According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are set to loan Andrey Santos (20) back to sister club Strasbourg following the conclusion of their preseason tour of the United States of America. The Brazilian midfielder is no transfer to the Racing club after spending the second half of last season on loan in Ligue 1.
Chelsea have not been short of potential suitors for Santos. Borussia Dortmund and several other clubs enquired about the possibility of gaining his services this season, Romano understands. However, after conversations with newly-appointed Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenior, the 20-year-old is convinced of his playing style and the opportunity to develop under the former Hull City manager.
The Blues were keen to only let Santos leave temporarily on loan as they see him as a major part of their plans for the future. The former Nottingham Forest loanee impressed for the Alsatian club on loan last season under Patrick Vieira – making 11 appearances and scoring 1 goal.
