Aston Villa have agreed a £16m deal with Nottingham Forest for right-back Matty Cash.
Villa have made a breakthrough in their attempts to land Cash after seeing a number of previous bids rejected.
A Villa offer made up of an initial £14m fee with a further £2m in add-ons has now been accepted by Nottingham Forest.
The 23 year-old has been the subject of significant Premier League interest with Sheffield United, Fulham and Southampton all among his admirers but Cash is now a step closer to becoming Villa’s first major summer signing.
Cash emerged from Forest’s academy and made his first team debut in August 2016 following a loan spell at Dagenham & Redbridge the previous season.
He has made 141 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals.
