Aston Villa are in talks with Barcelona over a proposed deal for teenage striker Louie Barry.
The 16-year old England youth international only moved to Spain from West Bromwich Albion in July and Barcelona have still to pay the £130,000 due in compensation to the Hawthorns club.
Albion have reported Barcelona to FIFA in a bid to get the outstanding payment which was due in two instalments but that could now be recovered with the Spanish champions looking to sell Barry back to England for around £1.5million.
A number of clubs have shown interest but Villa are now understood to be in pole position to bring Barry back to England.
The striker, who turned down PSG to join Barcelona because of their sporting project, became the first English player to live at the club’s famous La Masia academy and scored on his debut for Barca’s U19s in October.
However, Barry does not turn 17 until June and is the youngest in the squad. He has grown unsettled by a number of personnel changes in the club’s set up and is interested in a return to England with Villa close to his old home.
