Nico Yennaris captained Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday as his side faced Arsenal in the third-round of the Carabao Cup, 18 years after being a mascot for the Gunners.
Arsenal beat Brentford 3-1 on the night to progress to the next round but it was a memorable night for Yennaris, who was a part of the Arsenal academy growing up.
A pre-match photo with the officials, captains and mascots from both occasions, 18 years apart, also reveals that the same referee was involved.
The referee in question was Mike Dean and he looks to have hardly aged at all in the last 18 years as he continues to referee at the top end of the game.
But Yennaris has clearly grown, now 25 years old he lead the Championship side out at the Emirates.
Back in 2000, he accompanied Tony Adams on to the Highbury pitch for Arsenal's match with Coventry City.
Yennaris was at Arsenal for 15 years as a youth player, and was involved in the same under eight's side as Harry Kane.
But after failing to break into the first team, making just one appearance for the Gunners senior side in the Premier League - as a sub against Manchester United - he decided to leave to further his career.
He has been with Brentford ever since and has now made over 130 appearances for the London side.
