Atlanta United have denied chasing Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa as they look to appoint a new head coach.
The MLS Cup winners are looking to replace Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, who led them to victory in the final of the competition against Portland Timbers on Saturday evening. They want a new boss in place by January 14.
And a report syndicated in newspapers across the United States on Wednesday morning suggested Bielsa was a target for Atlanta.
But their president Darren Eales has insisted they are not looking to poach the former Argentina boss, who has led Leeds to second in the Championship.
Eales told Sportsmail: ‘Absolutely not. As far as I’m aware he’s managing Leeds at the moment, so I’m not sure where that’s come from.
‘There may be a misconception because I was talking about style of play and I said, "If you look at Tata Martino, Mauricio Pochettino, when I was at Tottenham, he talked about Bielsa’s style of play".
'They’ve all come from that tree of Marcelo Bielsa and Newell’s Old Boys and what he did there.
‘I think someone may have got the wrong end of the stick, clearly not. He’s coaching at Leeds. He’s not someone that we’d be thinking about.’
Atlanta were reported to be interested in Boca Juniors manager Guillermo Barros Schelloto on MLSSoccer.com. They are also chasing Gabriel Milito.
Leeds face Bolton in the Championship at the weekend as they look to win their fifth game on the spin.
