West Ham United have signed Arsenal forward Lucas Perez on a three-year deal for reported £4 million.

Manuel Pellegrini has landed the 29-year-old - who spent last season on loan at Deportivo - as a back-up striker to Marko Arnautovic.

It is reported that Pellegrini rejected the chance to sign Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente, offered to the club on Deadline Day, in order to land Perez.

Perez joined Arsenal for £17.1million in the summer of 2016 and went on to score seven goals in 21 appearances in his debut campaign.

He was farmed out on loan by Arsene Wenger, however, and was not be part of Unai Emery’s plans for the coming season.

Sporting Lisbon had registered an interest in Perez but the Spaniard was keen to remain in England.

Pellegrini has ruled injury-prone Andy Carroll out of his plans after the former Newcastle target man picked up another injury in pre-season which saw him sidelined for the first two months of the season.
