Barcelona nearly made a dramatic late deadline day swoop for Tottenham forward Lucas Moura but could not meet the £45m asking price.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Moura' was Barcelona's plan B behind their main aim of trying to prise Neymar away from Paris Saint-Germain.
Moura was one of Tottenham's stars in their run to the Champions League final last season, scoring a hat-trick in the semi-final second leg against Ajax.
But he lost his place for the final, making way for Harry Kane who was not fully fit after returning from injury.
Moura has featured in all three of Tottenham's Premier League games this season and scored in their 2-2 draw with champions Manchester City.
He arrived at Spurs from PSG in January 2018 and last month, signed an extension to his deal to keep him at the club until 2024.
