Barcelona transfer news

In this article, we will bring you all of the Barcelona transfer news from today. Make sure to check back to the site for more daily transfer updates throughout the summer.

Messi’s preseason return delayed

Lionel Messi will be unable to rejoin the Barcelona pre-season training as scheduled because the club are still yet to agree his contract.

Whilst terms are said to have been no problem the issue lies with the clubs need to remove more from their current wage bill to fall in line with set restrictions.

This means that Messi cannot be involved with the team despite his willingness to do so after winning the Copa America.

This could accelerate any plans for players to leave the club with so many linked with moves away to lower the wage bill.

Messi could yet miss the start of the La Liga season if the issue is not sorted soon.

Moriba in Barca B squad

Ilaix Moriba has been a hot property across Europe. The 18-year-old has failed to agree a new deal with the Blaugrana and thus demoted.

Manchester City and Chelsea have been said to be interested in the player but no official move has been made.

Meanwhile, Moriba has now joined the Barca B preseason squad to prepare for the new season.

Should no move be agreed and no new contract signed, Moriba could find himself in limbo until his current contract runs out

Blaugrana offered Wolves forward

Barcelona whilst needing desperately to offload players have still not stopped being linked with moves for them

According to Spanish outlet Super Deporte, Barca have been offered the opportunity to sign Wolves forward Rafa Mir.

The Spaniard is currently away with the Olympic team and scored 22 goals in 56 appearances whilst on an 18 month loan with Huesca.

He scored a hat trick at the Japan 2020 Olympics with Spain against Ivory Coast and that grew his profile further.

Yet, considering Messi, Memphis Depay, Antoine Griezmann and Sergio Aguero are at the Camp Nou, little sense can be argued in adding a further forward. Especially in the current financial climate for the club.
