Barcelona chief: We did everything possible to sign Neymar but PSG wouldn't sell

Barcelona chief executive Oscar Grau has explained that the Catalan club did all they could to sign Neymar this summer, but that Paris Saint-Germain simply weren't willing to sell.

It had seemed as though the Ligue 1 club were more than happy to allow Neymar to leave, but Barcelona didn't put forward an offer that they saw suitable.

"We did everything possible to sign him," Grau said while presenting Barcelona's budget for 2019/20.

"We always tried in a viable way because we would have been delighted for him to come.

"If the parameters we set were met, it was sustainable.

"We offered alternatives to PSG, who rejected them.

"They didn't want to do the deal."

Treasurer Enrique Tombas echoed Grau's comments and went into some more detail.

"We made two offers," Tombas said.

"One with players to be exchanged and another without, both were sustainable."
