Barcelona have offered £13.6m to sign Spanish Manchester City defender Eric Garcia.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed his club's desire to sign the 19-year-old centre-back, who was left out of City's squad at Leeds United on Saturday.

The Manchester City youngster is in the final year of his contract and has previously made it known that he does not wish to extend his stay at the club.

Koeman is hopeful of bringing Garcia back to the Nou Camp before Monday's transfer deadline day.

Garcia was part of the La Masia academy between 2008 and 2017, before heading to the Premier League under Pep Guardiola.

The Spanish international made his first top-flight appearance last season and would go on to feature 13 times throughout the campaign.

He is hoping to get more first-team football, but with Manchester City signing both Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias this summer, his path to the first-team has been made tougher.

Barcelona meanwhile have been reported to be interested in offloading defenders Samuel Umtiti and Jean-Clair Todibo before the window closes, leaving space for Garcia's arrival in their back-line.
