Batistuta: If young people want to be Messi or Ronaldo, don't play now

Former Argentine international Batistuta stayed in Florence a few days ago, watched the game of his old club and attended the renovation of the Flachi stadium. In an interview, he gave some suggestions to the children who dreamed of becoming Messi and Ronaldo, and recalled the situation when he first came to Florence.

Batty said: "first of all, they have to think about why they want to play. If you want to be Messi or Ronaldo, I suggest you stop playing now and find another job. They do appear on hot search often, but it takes a lot of hard work to do this."

When talking about his comparison with today's strikers, batty said: "the times have changed and the game has changed... There are few strikers fighting for a city. They just want to play football, so it's difficult to compare."

Bati also recalled when he arrived in Florence at the beginning of that year: "my first impression of Florence was very bad. This feeling lasted for a week, and then I fell in love with it. This is my home, and maybe I have more friends here than in Argentina. The Flachi stadium is like my home, and I spend more time in the dressing room than at home."

Finally, batty talked about the renovation of the stadium: "seriously, I don't want to see Fiorentina play elsewhere. This solution seems to me to be the most correct. At least I can continue to say: 'I left footprints here.' my emotional connection with viola is very deep."

Batistuta played for Fiorentina from 1991 to 2000, making 331 appearances for the Viola in various competitions and scoring 203 goals.

Advice to young players?

Gabriel Batistuta:

“First you have to think about why you want to play. If you are going to be Cristiano or Messi I advise you to stop & look for another path. Admittedly, they appear on the front pages, but in order to do so, it takes a lot of work.”
