Hector Bellerin was unable to hold back the tears after playing his final home game for Real Betis.
The Arsenal full-back has spent the season on loan at his boyhood club and fulfilled his father's dream of seeing him play in a Betis shirt.
It has been a very successful campaign too. Bellerin has made 32 appearances, with Betis still in with a chance of finishing in LaLiga's top four with one game left to play. He also helped the club win the Copa del Rey - their first trophy in 17 years.
Following Betis' 2-0 win over Granada on Sunday evening, Bellerin allowed himself time to take it all in on the Estadio Benito Villamarin turf.
He was embraced by team-mates Borja Iglesias and Aitor Ruibal, but then could not help but let the tears flow after his parents joined him on the pitch.
Bellerin's affection for Betis is clear and in January he spoke about how much he was enjoying his loan spell.
'All my family supported Betis, he said. 'Everyone at home followed them, my dad and I were die-hard supporters. There's an energy in the stadium that's difficult to describe, it's fantastic.
'It's wonderful to be able to share the amazing atmosphere with the fans. The supporters here have so much respect for the players, they love football and the club.'
It is unclear where Bellerin will be playing next season, with Mikel Arteta remaining tight-lipped about the 27-year-old's future.
'Any player with a contractual obligation with us, both ways, is our player and is considered our player,' the Arsenal boss said. 'Every plan considers that possibility (that Bellerin could stay) exists and how they can fit into our team.'
According to Goal, the Gunners could accept a bid of around £8million for Bellerin, whose contract at the Emirates Stadium runs until 2023.
His Betis team-mates Iglesias and Ruibal certainly want him to stay in Seville and have called for a crowdfunding page to be set up to pay the transfer fee.
'Hey! Do we open crowdfunding so that @HectorBellerin stays?' Iglesias tweeted. 'How do you see it @aRuibal9?'
'It is necessary,' Ruibal replied.
