Ben White's wife Milly shared a picture of the pair playing Uno on the beach on the same day of England's 1-0 defeat by Brazil at Wembley.

The Arsenal star sparked controversy and debate after it was revealed that he asked Gareth Southgate not to consider him for selection for their friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

Now it appears the Arsenal centre-back has jetted off on holiday with his wife for a warm-weather break as the Three Lions continue their preparations.

Just hours before Brazilian wonderkid Endrick condemned England to a 1-0 defeat at Wembley, White appeared to be having a competitive game of Uno with his wife in an idyllic setting.

The couple appeared to be at Kyma Beach, in Dubai, with the pair lounging on chairs on the sand with a picturesque pool and backdrop behind them.

White has not featured for England since leaving their World Cup camp in Qatar in 2022 due to 'personal reasons' - with reports suggesting he had a bust-up with Southgate's assistant Steve Holland.

Reports have suggested that the rift was sparked when Holland questioned White's interest in football while they were out in Qatar.

Southgate's assistant reportedly asked Kyle Walker a question related to Manchester City's performances in the previous season, before posing the same question to White in regards to Arsenal.

The 26-year-old allegedly claimed he did not know the answer, leading Holland to claim that was down to his lack of interest in football.

The conversation is said to have happened in front of other members of the squad.

White has previously admitted he was never a football fan when he was younger and rarely watches matches to this day.

Speaking in 2021, he said: 'No I never watched football when I was younger, still don't now.

'I just loved the game, I was always playing it - never watching it. So I don't know too much about older generations.'

Meanwhile, Southgate has maintained there were no issues between Holland and the Arsenal defender in Qatar.

'People can talk about me, and I have to accept that things get said that are false about me,' he said last week when asked about White's decision to make himself unavailable for selection.

'For whatever reason in this role, you have to almost stomach that. But I'm not prepared for that to happen for a key member of my coaching team because that is not the reason Ben is unavailable for selection.'

White would certainly have been called up to Southgate's squad for this month's friendlies if he wanted to join up with the camp, following a positive season at Arsenal.

As White was enjoying himself, England struggled on home soil against Brazil, as the Three Lions prepare for this summers European Championships.
