Bernardo Silva has brilliant comeback to Bruno Fernandes and Utd derby jibes

Bernardo Silva has challenged Manchester United to win more trophies and Premier League titles like Manchester City as he joked with Bruno Fernandes over the last meeting between the sides.

United were 2-0 winners over City in the last league game both sides played before the Premier League season was suspended, giving Fernandes the three points in his first Manchester derby.

The win was United's third in four meetings between the rivals this season, but City progressed to the Carabao Cup final on aggregate following their two-legged semi-final.

Both sides will try and win the FA Cup when the season resumes as well as looking to win a European trophy each.

Until then, Bernardo says he has been keeping in contact with international teammate Fernandes now he has moved to Manchester, where the topic of City's Old Trafford defeat in March naturally came up in conversation.

However, Bernardo suggested that while United may have the bragging rights for the time being, they still have a long way to go to catch City's recent record of winning trophies after they have won eight of the last nine domestic titles available.

Speaking on the '5 for Midnight' show on Portuguese TV from his home in Manchester (via Record), Bernardo joked: "I went to Tróia with some friends and it was a lot of fun. We ran, played tennis ... Now I've been here in Manchester for 10 days and I'm sick of it.

"I spoke to him [Fernandes] about three days ago. He's winning 1-0 in the games between us here, but he still has to eat a lot of soup to reach the titles!"

Bernardo also addressed the speculation that he will return to Benfica in the future - something he has previously admitted would appeal to him.

"All the interviews ask me when I return to Benfica. I already thought I would stop responding. With all due respect, in Portugal at Sporting and FC Porto I don't play."
