Besiktas are reportedly in negotiations to sign former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla who is available on a free transfer this summer.

The 35-year-old has bounced back from a career threatening injury in the last two years, by starring for Villarreal following his departure from the Emirates Stadium.

But with his contract up at the Spanish top flight side, he is in discussions over a move to Turkey according to AS, who cite Turkish reports.

Cazorla's future remains uncertain after agreeing a one-year extension at Villarreal at the start of the season having battled back from his ankle problems that ruined the latter part of his excellent spell at Arsenal.

Last summer he made his first appearance for Spain in four years and has gone to make a further three since.

Despite the public uncertainty around his next move, Cazorla insists he already knows where his future lies.

'I have already made a decision about my future but right now is not the time to talk about it – my future depends on me,' he told told Cadena Ser's El Larguero show

'Could I play for another club after Villarreal? There are many possibilities for what I will do.

'I know what I would like and this break has given me time to think and to listen to my body to know when I should be aware of stopping.'

Cazorla was a big hit at the Emirates Stadium after arriving from Malaga in the summer of 2012 - becoming a key midfielder in this first three seasons.

However a run of horrific knee and ankle injuries soon took their toll, and he featured just 32 times across the next two campaigns before going the entire 2017-18 season without playing. Before his Arsenal departure it was feared he would lose the ability to walk after he contracted gangrene following one of eight ankle operations.
