Betting: Premier League Relegation

With Huddersfield Town and Fulham cut adrift, the bookmakers believe either the Bluebirds or Clarets who will join them in the Championship next term

While there is still plenty to be decided at the top of the Premier League, two teams look all but resigned to their fate at the opposite end of the table.

Huddersfield Town are 16 points adrift of safety with just seven games remaining, with their main issue being scoring. They've found the net just 18 times this season and are now 1/9 (1.11) to finish bottom of the table with 888Sport.

Fulham too, look destined for a return to the Championship. Hopes were high for the play-off winners who spent big in the summer transfer window, but that investment has failed to pay off.

Scott Parker is the third manager of the season at Craven Cottage and with just 17 points on the board, it also looks a matter of when, rather than if, their relegation is confirmed. They're 5/1 (6.0) to finish the campaign in 20th place according 888Sport's latest Premier League odds.

Those same prices suggest the third team to drop into the second tier will be either Cardiff City (2/5) or Burnley (5/2).

A 2-0 win over West Ham boosted the Bluebirds' hopes last time out and they have a game in hand compared to the Clarets, albeit they are two points worse off. The remaining fixtures for Neil Warnock's side though, make daunting reading. Cardiff still have to play Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool before finishing the season at Old Trafford.

Burnley also have trips to Stamford Bridge and the Etihad to come and Sean Dyche's side entertain Arsenal on the final day of the campaign.

Part of the reason there's such a disparity in prices between the pair could be due to the Clarets' top-flight experience, but also the fact that they host Cardiff in a crunch clash on April 13. Home advantage could prove vital in that meeting considering Warnock's men have taken just eight points from 14 road trips this term.

Southampton are 16/1 (17.0) shots to be relegated despite being level on points with 17th place Burnley. The Saints have picked up some eye-catching results under Ralph Hasenhuttl since the Austrian replaced Mark Hughes, including a dramatic 2-1 win over Tottenham in their previous outing.

Given that the south-coast club only face one of the current top six, a home clash with Liverpool, it's understandable to see them at a bigger price than the two other sides although they are far from safe. It's also worth noting Southampton have a game in hand over Burnley thanks to Watford's involvement in the FA Cup which saw their top-flight clash postponed last weekend.

Brighton (33/1) and Crystal Palace (66/1) come next although with both sides five points clear of trouble, 888Sport expect the pair to ensure their Premier League survival over the next few weeks.
