Betting Tips: QPR vs Aston Villa

Steve McClaren's side have been in good form of late and look overpriced to get the better of a visiting side who've struggled on the road this term

Friday's Championship offering sees Queens Park Rangers host Aston Villa.

QPR have picked up some important wins of late. Steve McClaren's side have collected 10 points from their last four games including a creditable 1-1 draw with high-flying Derby County earlier this month.

The bookmakers believe this will be a tough match to call. QPR are available at 33/20 (2.65) with 888Sport who are 17/10 (2.70) on Aston Villa coming out on top. The draw trades at 11/5 (3.20) with the same firm.

Dean Smith replaced Steve Bruce at Villa Park but so far the change in manager has yet to yield a significant turnaround in results for last season's beaten finalists.

One wager that's landed in every Aston Villa away game this term has been both teams to score. It's a 3/4 (1.75) shot here and appears worth of consideration but the better value may lie with the home side.

QPR's three wins all came against sides who currently sit in the bottom half - two of them in the relegation zone - but the team appear to be playing with much more swagger in recent weeks.

The confidence that such performances breed makes McClaren's men look a significantly better punting proposition than they were at the start of the campaign.

Villa's defence has got to be a huge concern and while they've scored in every Championship game this term, their defeats to Norwich and Millwall in the last few weeks suggest there's still plenty of work to do for the new manager.

Last season’s losing play-off finalists have only won once on the road this term and that came against a Hull City team that sit in 23rd place coming into this weekend.

The R's have kept three clean sheets in their previous four matches and while Villa are still being respected by the bookmakers, that could mean the home win is overpriced at 33/20 (2.65) with 888Sport.
