Betting: Will Harry Kane break his August hoodoo?

Tottenham face Fulham and Manchester United before the end of the month and bet365 have priced up a special market regarding the England captain

A 2-1 win over Newcastle got Tottenham's season off to the perfect start.

Despite picking up three points, Harry Kane failed to make a significant impact on the game and the England captain has now gone almost 1000 minutes without a Premier League goal in the month of August and taken over 40 shots in that time.

As a result, bet365 have priced up some specials about if Kane will open his August account this year and if so, how many he will score before September. Spurs face Fulham this weekend before a clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford to close out the month.

The online bookmaker go 11/4 (3.75) that the 25-year-old striker is still goalless after the two games in question. Given Kane's early season struggles it would be no surprise if he takes some time to get up to speed after a busy World Cup campaign which saw England finish fourth in Russia.

There is 15/8 (2.88) on offer from bet365 that Kane scores once across the two games combined,11/4 (3.75) that he nets twice and 10/3 (4.33) about three or more strikes.

bet365's Steve Freeth said “Kane’s hoodoo continues after a quiet start to the season against Newcastle.

“However, he did smash a hat-trick past the Cottagers in the FA Cup back in February, plus he bagged against Fulham in his only Premier League start against them in 2014.”

With the newly promoted side heading to Wembley on Saturday, bet365 are just 4/9 (1.44) that Kane gets his name on the scoresheet and 21/10 (3.10) that he breaks the deadlock.

Despite being a slow starter in recent seasons, Kane's goal scoring prowess is extremely impressive. The striker has won the Premier League Golden Boot in two of the last three seasons and posted his best ever top-flight tally of 30 goals last term, albeit that wasn't enough to retain the award thanks to Mohamed Salah's herorics at Liverpool.

With that in mind it's no surprise to see Kane remain as the frontrunner for the award this campaign. bet365 go 10/3 (4.33) on the two-time winner making it a hat-trick ahead of the reigning holder who is 7/2 (4.50) having opened his account against West Ham on matchday one.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (13/2) and Sergio Aguero (7/1) come next but the bookies believe that even if Kane fails to break his August blank then he is set for another prolific campaign.
