Blackburn Rovers are keen on AZ Alkmaar midfielder Adam Maher.
Manager Tony Mowbray has held meetings with club owners Venky's and may sell influential midfielder Bradley Dack this summer to free up funds to bolster his squad's depth.
Mowbray has been out to Holland to watch Maher, 25, on a number of occasions but faces a big challenge to tempt the Holland international to play in the Championship.
However, he believes the versatile midfielder can be a catalyst for Rovers' promotion push next season.
Maher is out of contract so will be available on a free.
Blackburn finished 15th i the Championship this season, 14 points below the final play-off place.
