Bologna 0-2 Lazio: Simone dooms Pippo in Inzaghi Derby

  /  autty

Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio defeated Bologna and could well doom brother Pippo to the sack, as Luiz Felipe and Senad Lulic turned in corners.

This was a very special family affair, as brothers Pippo and Simone Inzaghi went head-to-head on the touchline the day after Christmas. It was a big game for both sides, as Bologna were in the drop zone, while the Aquile had just clambered above Milan into fourth place. Erick Pulgar was carrying a knock, while Lazio had Lucas Leiva back in the starting XI after over a month out, but rested Ciro Immobile.

Lazio were unbeaten against Bologna since a 3-1 result at the Olimpico in March 2012, managing five wins and five draws in which they scored 17 and conceded six. The last defeat at the Dall’Ara was 3-1 in January 2011.

Luis Alberto and Federico Santander forced saves from distance, while Orji Okwonkwo curled just wide.

Lazio took the lead on the half-hour mark when Luis Alberto’s corner found the head of Luiz Felipe from six yards, glancing it into the far bottom corner.

Joaquin Correa cut inside to test Lukasz Skorupski and on the resulting corner Senad Lulic hit a half-volley wide.

Lazio secured the victory in the final minute, as a corner was knocked on for the Lulic volley from close range.
