Boss Cowley excited about new 'challenge' at Huddersfield Town

Danny Cowley described Huddersfield Town as the 'perfect opportunity' as he was unveiled as the struggling Sky Bet Championship club's new manager on Tuesday.

Cowley left League One Lincoln City to take up the position at the John Smith's Stadium, left vacant after the departure of Jan Siewert earlier this season.

Cowley, speaking alongside his brother and assistant boss Nicky, said: 'I expect it has been a difficult period for the football club but that excites me. We like a challenge. We feel this is the perfect opportunity.'

Huddersfield, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have not won in 17 games in all competitions and are 23rd in the Championship with just one point from six games this term.

Cowley said: 'I look at the job in front of us and can't wait to get started.

'We want to be challenged. I want to live life. The safer option would have been to stay at Lincoln, a club we loved and felt a connection with.

'It would have been a lot easier to stay but we are not interested in easy decisions. We want to test ourselves.'
