Aaron Ramsdale has eyes on a wildcard spot in England's European Championship squad.

The Bournemouth goalkeeper's performances have drawn plaudits during a debut Premier League season and he will captain England's Under 21s in Holland on Tuesday night.

Ramsdale believes he could be in with a shot of making Gareth Southgate's 23-man squad if his form continues.

'I've thought about it for sure,' he said. 'My goal is to get into the Euro squad. Selfishly, I'd maybe have liked to have got into a camp in the first three (this season).'

Ramsdale will take the armband from Tom Davies and added: 'I share a room with Tom and to see him being captain, my mate, I can see how much pride it brings to him.

'I help him put on the armband when he's playing, so maybe he can do it for me. I'm smiling and have been all day.'

Manager Aidy Boothroyd believes the friendly against Holland will pose an important test for his Young Lions.

'It's a good challenge,' Boothroyd said. 'These are the sort of games you get in the finals so it's a good test for us. We're similar in that we're both happier attacking than defending. It's a challenge to stop their attacking players. This is more of a tier one team we're playing.'
