Bournemouth have taken to Twitter to troll Tottenham Hotspur in a fashion that Arsenal fans will love
Bournemouth's recent social media post may have helped endear themselves to Arsenal fans.
The Cherries defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in dramatic fashion on Saturday afternoon, netting a winner in the 95th minute just seven minutes after Cristian Stellini's side had equalised through Arnaut Danjuma. After the full-time whistle, Bournemouth's social media admin rubbed salt in Spurs' wounds.
"North London is red," their official Twitter account read in a tweet that Gunners supporters will love. In fact, Arsenal have had plenty of time to revel in their local rivals' misfortune this season, sitting 20 points clear of the Lillywhites in the current Premier League standings.
If Mikel Arteta and co defeat West Ham United on Sunday afternoon, they will have mathematically already finished above Tottenham, who have bettered the Gunners' final league position in each of the last six league campaigns. Ahead of today's match, Hammers boss David Moyes has heaped praise on Arteta, who he used to manage at Everton during the Spaniard's playing days.
"Yeah," Moyes replied when asked if he felt a sense of pride in seeing Arteta do so well as a coach. "I’ve got to say, I’ve had loads of players who’ve been coming to see me at West Ham, come for dinner or they come into the training ground.
"But Mikel’s on his own career now. He’s been an apprentice to probably one of one of the finest managers, if not the best, in Pep (Guardiola) , which will have given him a lot of stuff. He’s had a good background.
"He’s worked under Arsene Wenger, who was an exceedingly good manager as well. So hopefully he’s on the right path. He’s a good boy and he’s got a chance of being a champion this year.
"We don’t talk much, because it’s business, you know? But I’ve always had a strong relationship with Mikel. Letting him leave Everton to go to Arsenal was difficult because he was such a good player for us. But that was what happened at the time, and that’s what happens in football."
