Brahim Diaz has undergone his medical at Real Madrid after he sealed a £22million move from Manchester City, having played just 49 minutes of Premier League football.
The promising 19-year-old, who has put pen to paper on a six-and-a-half year deal at the Bernabeu, played just 414 minutes of senior football for City having joined from Malaga back in 2013 at the age of 14.
The midfielder's chances at City were few and far between but will hope his career flourishes at the Bernabeu.
His competition at the Etihad, which included Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez, was stiff, but breaking past the star-studded list at Real will not be any easier.
With Gareth Bale, Isco, Marco Asensio, Lucas Vazquez and Vinicius Jnr all vying for attacking berths, Diaz must prove he is able to mix it with the big boys in the Spanish capital.
Following Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus last summer, the Spanish giants recruited 18-year-old Vinicius and handed him the No 7 shirt. The club's policy of favouring youth now appears to have continued.
Diaz certainly does not lack ambition — he rejected the chance to move to Girona on loan earlier this year with hopes of playing a big part in City's attempts to defend their Premier League crown — and will need all that self-belief to be successful at a club upon which such a bright spotlight shines.
What Diaz is likely to bring Real is a fleetness of foot and masterful technique with the ball at his feet, offering the playmaking abilities to unlock La Liga defences.
Premature comparisons have been drawn with the close control of fellow left-footers Lionel Messi and David Silva and he also possesses a venomous strike when called upon.
Los Blancos will perhaps remember his goal against them in 2017 when he unleashed a thunderbolt past Kiko Casilla during a pre-season friendly.
The Real Madrid faithful will hope there will be plenty more of those to come over the next six-and-a-half years.
