Brentford are in talks with PEC Zwolle over signing Holland Under 20 international Rav van den Berg.

The centre-back, 18, is target for the Premier League side this summer and progress is being made towards the potential transfer.

Van den Berg is the younger brother of Liverpool defender Sepp.

Roma, who are managed by Jose Mourinho, tried to sign the teenager during the January transfer window but he stayed in Holland.

Despite his young age, Van den Berg has already made 28 senior appearances for PEC Zwolle.

The 6ft 3ins defender is viewed as one of the best emerging young defensive talents in European football with Brentford trying to secure a deal for him this summer.

Van den Berg has been constantly linked with moves to clubs in the top divisions - Liverpool, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Ajax have all been credited with interest.

But Brentford are trying to steal a march on their rivals ahead of next season.
