After defeat last week, Brighton will be looking to return to winning ways at home as they welcome relegated Wolves to the American Express Stadium
Brighton will aim to boost their bid for European qualification when they host already-relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Amex Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. The sides drew in October’s reverse fixture at Molineux, where Bart Verbruggen’s own goal was later cancelled out by an 86th-minute Jan Paul van Hecke equaliser.
The bookies are backing the host to win this convincingly at 2/9 with BetGoodwin while Championship-bound Wolves are 17/2 with Sky Bet to throw a spanner in the works and a draw is 9/2 with William Hill. You can also find more betting offers at the Mirror Betting Hubs Free Bets offers.
Brighton arrived at last weekend’s meeting with Newcastle United in the midst of a five-match unbeaten run, but it was the Magpies who ran out 3-1 winners at St James’ Park. Jack Hinshelwood’s fine second-half strike briefly raised the prospect of a late comeback, yet the Seagulls slipped to their first defeat since early March and have dropped to eighth. Even so, they remain firmly in contention, sitting two points behind sixth-placed Bournemouth with three games left.
Earlier in the year, a run of one win in 13 matches prompted some supporters to question Fabian Hurzeler’s future, but the 33-year-old has overseen an upturn in form at the Amex with six wins in nine and has since signed a new long-term deal. Hurzeler has spoken of his ambition for the club to “challenge the establishment” in the seasons ahead.
A sixth-place finish could even be enough to reach the Champions League should Aston Villa win the Europa League and end the league campaign in fifth, adding extra incentive for Brighton to capitalise on a favourable home fixture. The Seagulls are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with Wolves.
Brighton have also won their last two home matches — against Liverpool and Chelsea — and have lost only one of their last 16 top-flight games against sides starting the day in the relegation zone (W5 D10). That lone defeat was a 4-0 loss to Rob Edwards’ Luton Town in January 2024.
For Wolves, the remaining fixtures are largely about pride and planning for life in the Championship, although avoiding a bottom-place finish remains a realistic target. The Old Gold halted a three-game losing run without scoring by drawing 1-1 with Sunderland at Molineux last weekend, though they were booed off at full time after failing to make the most of playing against 10 men for more than an hour, managing just one goal from 17 attempts.
Wolves start the weekend two points behind 19th-placed Burnley, with trips to Brighton and Turf Moor either side of a home game against Fulham.
Edwards’ side head to the South Coast without a win in their last 19 Premier League away matches — their longest such run since a streak spanning April 2003 to August 2004. They have, however, lost only once in their last six visits to Brighton. Defeat this weekend would also see Wolves become only the second team in Premier League history to lose to all 19 other sides in the same season, after Sheffield United in 2023-24.

Brighton vs Wolves Team News
Brighton expect Mats Wieffer (ankle) to miss out after aggravating the issue at Newcastle, joining Stefanos Tzimas and Adam Webster (both knee) on the sidelines. Diego Gomez (knee), plus James Milner and Solly March (muscle), are doubtful. Joel Veltman, Maxim De Cuyper or Ferdi Kadioglu could cover at right-back, while Lewis Dunk is pushing to return. Carlos Baleba and Yasin Ayari are competing to partner Pascal Gross, with Jack Hinshelwood again advanced behind Danny Welbeck, supported by Yankuba Minteh and Kaoru Mitoma.
For Wolves, Daniel Bentley is set to keep goal with Jose Sa still out (ankle). Sam Johnstone (shoulder) and Enso Gonzalez (knee) remain sidelined, while Ladislav Krejci (neck) will be assessed. If he misses out, Yerson Mosquera, Santiago Bueno and Toti Gomes should form the back three, with Pedro Lima and Hugo Bueno as wing-backs. Rob Edwards may start Angel Gomes and Rodrigo Gomes, possibly alongside Mateus Mane, leaving either Tolu Arokodare or Adam Armstrong on the bench.
