Brighton 1-3 Liverpool: Liverpool continued their relentless pursuit of points

  /  R47

Thanks to a fast start against Brighton, Liverpool recorded their first triumph away from Anfield since February 15 on the south coast.

Match Reports

Liverpool ended a five-game winless run on the road as Mohamed Salah scored twice in a 3-1 triumph over Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday.

Salah and Jordan Henderson were on target inside the opening eight minutes as the Premier League champions quickly seized control on the south coast, albeit they were helped out by their opponents.

While a first away victory since a 1-0 success at Norwich City on February 15 was made trickier by Leandro Trossard's fine goal before break, Salah made sure of all three points when he headed in at a corner.

Match Events

6' GOAL! Brighton 0-1 Liverpool (Salah)

Well, that didn't take long! Brighton are caught trying to play out from the back and Ryan passes to Propper, only for the midfielder to be caught on the ball by Keita, who squares for Salah to curl emphatically into the bottom-left corner! It's 1-0 to Liverpool!

8' GOAL! Brighton 0-2 Liverpool (Henderson)

Brighton don't learn from their mistake and try to play out from the back again. Keita wins the ball once more, this time in midfield, and finds Firmino, who gets it forward to Salah. The Egyptian rolls back to Henderson on the edge of the box and the Liverpool captain hits a looping shot that flies past Ryan and in!

31' Firmino's shot too weakly

Keita wins the ball in an advanced area once again and plays it forward to Salah. He switches the play to Oxlade-Chamberlain, who cuts inside but finds his route to goal blocked. Instead, he plays a clever reverse pass into Firmino in the centre of the area, but he can't get a shot away and goes down, but nothing is given.

45' GOAL! Brighton 1-2 Liverpool (Trossard)

It's no less than the hosts deserve as they've been growing in this game. Lamptey bursts down the right and curls in a sumptuous cross that Trossard meets on the volley and fires emphatically past Alisson! It's 2-1 now!

76' GOAL! Brighton 1-3 Liverpool (Salah)

Robertson sends a corner in and Salah gets away from Lamptey to nod home at the near post! Potter will be disappointed to see his side concede in that manner. It's 3-1 to Liverpool!
