Bristol City target Benkovic with Brendan Rodgers willing to loan him out

Leicester defender Filip Benkovic is a target for Bristol City.

Brendan Rodgers is a big fan of centre-back Benkovic and took him to Celtic in August 2018 for a season long spell.

But he is open to letting the Croatian, 22, leave temporarily this month to continue his development with regular football.

Leicester hope to sign a centre-back of their own to ensure they are not left short and made a move for Southampton’s Jannik Vestegaard though St Mary’s boss Ralph Hasenhuttl insists he won’t be leaving during this window.

Bristol City will be awaiting developments as Leicester’s search will have a knock on effect for their own pursuit of Benkovic who is also wanted by Derby.

The 6ft 4in stopper joined Leicester for £13m from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2018.

He moved to Celtic after making one Carabao Cup appearance for Leicester. He has featured just once for the first team on his return to the Foxes and could now be heading out on loan again.
