Britain's worst football team BAN young ultras from matches

A team in the fifth tier of Scottish football has banned local 'ultras' from attending their matches unless they are 'accompanied by a parent'.

Currently sat bottom of the Highland League with just three victories all season, Fort William have taken the steps following a spate of 'unacceptable behaviour' from younger supporters.

A club statement read: 'Following unacceptable behaviour of The Ultras supporters group over a number of games this season we have taken the decision to ban this group from home games.

'They will be able to gain entry individually if accompanied by a parent.'

Fort William was the subject of a BBC documentary last year following their abysmal performances on the pitch.

The club went two seasons without a win and are battling to avoid finishing bottom once again this season.

In August 2019, Fort William brought to an end one of the longest winless streaks in British football after winning 5-2 against Nairn County in the North of Scotland Cup.

They had been on a 73-game winless run stretching back 840 days and chalked up a minus 221 goal difference last season.

Things have slightly improved this season but they are still fighting to not finish bottom.

Fort William have won three of their 19 matches so far this season, drawing one and losing the other 15. They are three points behind 16th-placed Lossiemouth but have a staggering eight games in hand on them.

The part-time club pays its players an average of £20 a week in wages.
