Bruno Fernandes will wear the Number 18 shirt at Manchester United, it has been revealed.
United officially unveiled Fernandes as their first signing of the January 2020 window — and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's fourth as permanent boss — 24 hours after their initial statement confirmed the transfer. He completed a medical at the club's Carrington training ground and penned a five-and-a-half year deal with the option of an extra year, after personal terms were agreed.
Fernandes joins for a €55million up front and €10million in add-ons from Sporting CP after a protracted period of negotiations between the two clubs.
It was revealed by his agent Miguel Ruben Pinho on Instagram that Fernandes will wear the No.18 at Old Trafford.
The number was previously worn by United's former captain Ashley Young and was famously worn for years by legendary former midfielder Paul Scholes.
Pinho posted a picture of him and Fernandes together with the caption "always together" as the Portuguese embarks on his United career.
He could make his debut in the Premier League clash with Wolves at Old Trafford this Saturday.
