Bundesliga 2 goalkeeper Gikiewicz scores 94th-minute equaliser for Union Berlin

If you think Paco Alcacer's injury-time winner for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga Matchday 7 meeting with Augsburg was dramatic, wait until you hear about what went down between Union Berlin and Heidenheim in Bundesliga 2 on Sunday.

Union looked to be heading for their first defeat of the season, when they won a free-kick on halfway in the fourth minute of added time. Goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz charged up from the back - and not just to make up the numbers. After Sebastian Andersson directed the initial ball in back across goal, who rose to meet it with a towering header to bring Union level? You guessed it: Gikiewicz!

Unsurprisingly, it is the first time the former Freiburg and Eintracht Braunschweig custodian has scored a competitive goal. The result also makes it a Union club record 11 matches unbeaten, and keeps the Berlin outfit firmly in the hunt for a maiden promotion to the Bundesliga. Urs Fischer's side occupy second place after nine matches.
