Bundesliga pair are the only 2 players above Kane for non-penalty goals per game

Fresh data has revealed that two Bundesliga stars from the same team are the only players across Europe to have a better non-penalty goals per game ratio than Harry Kane this season.

Kane joined Bayern Munich for £100m from Tottenham last summer and has made a flying start to life in Germany by netting 24 times in the league.

He has been criticised for his performances over the past week, with Bayern suffering consecutive defeats against Bayer Leverkusen and Lazio, but his overall time at the club has been a major success thus far.

Only three of his league goals have come from the spot, meaning he has 21 non-penalty goals this term, which works out at 1.02 per 90 minutes, according to WhoScored.

But this is not enough to put him top of the list when looking at every player from across Europe's top five leagues to have played at least 1,000 minutes. That honour goes to Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has 1.16 non-penalty goals per 90 minutes in 2023-24.

Like Kane, Guirassy has also netted three penalties this season, and he has 14 non-penalty goals, having missed six games due to injury and playing for Guinea at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Guirassy was linked with Manchester United, Newcastle and West Ham last month, but ended up staying put.

Another Stuttgart player just ahead of Kane is Deniz Undav, who is on loan at the German club from Brighton.

Undav struggled for goals at the Amex Stadium last season, but has had no such problems at Stuttgart, scoring 14 times in Germany's top flight with none of them coming from the spot to give him a non-penalty goals per 90 minute ratio of 1.03.

Fourth place goes to PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe, with the 25-year-old enjoying another stunning campaign.

Three out of his 20 Ligue 1 goals have been from 12 yards, to leave him with 0.87 non-penalty goals per 90 minutes.

Mbappe is set to leave PSG at the end of the season after informing the club he will not be extending his contract, with Real Madrid the favourites to secure his signature.

The top four players in the non-penalty rankings all play outside the Premier League, but a Liverpool player has ensured there is some representation for England's top division.

And it is not Mohamed Salah. Diogo Jota actually has a better strike rate than his team-mate when taking penalties out of the equation this year.

Jota has only taken one penalty in his entire career - scoring it for Wolves against Hull City in 2018 - but that has not held him back when it comes to finding the net on a regular basis for the Reds.

Jota missed a month of action in December with a muscle injury and has been used sparingly at times by Jurgen Klopp, but has still scored nine Premier League goals to keep Liverpool firmly in the title race with Manchester City and Arsenal.

He has scored 0.8 non-penalty goals per 90 minutes in 2023-24, and was named Premier League player of the month for January after scoring four goals in three matches.
