Cardiff City have moved to beat West Brom to the £9million signing of Bristol City forward Bobby Reid.
Albion were looking to offer £7m for Reid but Cardiff have proposed a deal worth up to £9m.
The 25-year-old is due to undergo a medical and will be joined by QPR goalkeeper Alex Smithies as he looks to complete his £3.5million move from Loftus Road.
Bristol City want Peterborough's prolific Jack Marriott to replace Reid.
Reid impressed as Bristol put together a promotion challenge in the first half of last season and reached the EFL Cup semi-finals.
He hit 19 goals in the Championship after being moved from midfield to the forward line by manager Lee Johnson.
