Jamie Carragher believes Brendan Rodgers' former role as Liverpool manager means he can never take charge of Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure with United sitting seventh in the Premier League after a turbulent start to the season.
Rodgers, meanwhile, has made a fine start to the campaign with Leicester sitting third, leading the Northern Irishman to be touted as a possible replacement for Solskjaer.
However, Carragher thinks he cannot be considered because he used to manage United's great rivals.
'Liverpool is out of the question and Manchester United is too because he was Liverpool manager,' Carragher said, as quoted by The Express.
'You look at Arsenal and Chelsea in a few years' time, whether Frank stays there or not.
'Rodgers has a link to Chelsea, being in the youth set-up and the reserves. They're the two jobs you'd look at, maybe international wise as well.'
Rodgers managed Liverpool for three full seasons between 2012 and 2015, narrowly missing out on winning the Premier League in the second.
