Celtic have appointed Martin O'Neill as their manager on a permanent basis.

The 74-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the club, with the option for an additional year, after a successful spell as interim boss in 2025-26.

O'Neill was named interim manager twice during the season, first after Brendan Rodgers parted ways with the club, and then again after Wilfried Nancy was sacked after a short time at the helm.

Overall, O'Neill won 19 of his 23 Scottish Premiership games (D2 L2), including each of their seven as they won the title on a dramatic final day clash against title rivals Hearts.

O'Neill also won the Scottish Cup, defeating Dunfermline in the showpiece, to complete a domestic double.

"It is once again a great privilege for me to continue as Celtic manager," O'Neill told the club website.

"Last season will live long in all our memories and to be part of that success has in a big way whetted the appetite to work again for more days like those and bring our supporters those moments.

“We know of course that Celtic can never rest on past success so we are now aiming to drive forward together in the coming season as we aim to deliver again for the club and our fans."

O'Neill has taken charge of 211 Scottish Premiership games, including his previous spell with Celtic between 2000 and 2005, winning 174 (D21 L16) and averaging 2.57 points per game.

Of managers to have taken charge of at least 20 games in the competition, O'Neill averages the most points per game and has the best win percentage (82.5%).
