Celtic eyeing Wanyama transfer as Tottenham hold out for £8m (Mirror)

Victor Wanyama is a wanted man – but the midfielder's chances of escaping Tottenham are fading because of the demands of his club.

Spurs have told the Kenyan international that he can leave for any side willing to pay the £8million asking price.

Daniel Levy is also willing to allow Wanyama to leave on loan – but is demanding that a £1.5million fee is attached to any deal with an obligation to buy in the summer.

Wanyama's former club Celtic want to take the 28-year-old back to Glasgow, while Lazio have joined Galatasaray in lodging an enquiry for the powerful anchorman.

Wanyama earns around £70,000-a-week at Tottenham and his hopes of a move to the MLS have been dashed by his wage demands.

He joined Spurs in an £11million deal from Southampton in the summer of 2016, and was an important part of the first-team in his first season, making 47 appearances in all competitions and scoring five goals.

But he has struggled with injuries recently and has played just four times for Spurs this season and is not in Jose Mourinho's plans.

He has 18 months left on his Tottenham contract and turned down an £11million move to Club Brugge in the summer.
