Liverpool manager Arne Slot has attracted plenty of scrutiny after a disappointing title defence

The summer transfer window looks like being a crucial one for Liverpool as they aim to get back on track after a season to forget. The Reds posted their lowest points tally in more than a decade but still secured Champions League football on the final day.
This season's struggles have prompted questions about how long manager Arne Slot might have left at Anfield. And another boss has fielded questions on the job, as focus shifts towards the upcoming transfer window.
Liverpool will need to replace at least two big characters this summer. Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are both moving to pastures new, while more exits could follow.
For now, though, we have half an eye on ins as well as outs. Here are Mirror Football's latest updates from around Anfield.
Sage holds Liverpool dream
Lens manager Pierre Sage has been linked with a number of jobs after his team's surprise second-place finish in Ligue 1. He looks to be staying put for now, but a move to Anfield would be a dream for the 47-year-old.
Sage, who joined Lens last summer, has a three-year deal and says he plans to be in charge for next season's Champions League campaign. However, when pushed by Telefoot on his dream job, Liverpool's name came up.

Lens turned to Sage - who was sacked by Lyon in January 2025 - after finishing eighth last season under Will Still. Helped by some shrewd signings including top-scorer Odsonne Edouard, Les Sang et Or finished just six points behind domestic champions Paris Saint-Germain and beat Nice in the Coupe de France final.
Dumfries move back on the table
Liverpool's move for Jeremie Frimpong last summer hasn't stopped them keeping an eye on his compatriot Denzel Dumfries. Inter Milan defender Dumfries, who has two more years on his contract, is understood to have a release clause worth a little shy of £22million - a sum the Reds could be ready to pay.
According to reports in Italy, Liverpool are working on a summer move after failing to get a deal done in the winter window. The full-back, 30, has also been linked with a move to Barcelona if the Catalan club end up offloading Jules Kounde.
Dumfries has been with Inter since 2021 and played his 200th game for the club this season. He also started six of the Netherlands' eight World Cup qualifying matches, scoring against Finland and Poland.
