Chelsea are considering a move for Everton left back Lucas Digne after ruling Ben Chilwell out for the season.

Chilwell will have surgery on his knee ligament injury after the club initially thought he could recuperate without an operation.

They are now considering options with France international Digne among the names to have been discussed.

The 28-year old Digne has not played for Everton since falling out with manager Rafa Benitez and has also been offered to Newcastle United while Napoli and Inter Milan are also among those interested.

Discussions could lead to a Chelsea player heading in the opposite direction with former Everton midfielder Ross Barkley among the names floated. Barkley also has loan interest from Leeds.

Ajax left back Nicolas Tagliafico is another name Chelsea have talked about in recent weeks with the Dutch side open to offers for the Argentine.

Ajax, meanwhile are continuing to explore a deal for Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn.

The Dutchman has started only three Premier League games this season, having struggled to ever force his way into the team consistently since arriving from PSV in 2019.

Bergwijn has played just 39 minutes under Conte in the top-flight so far and the 24-year-old could welcome a return to the Eredivisie.
