Gianluca Vialli has revealed his fight against cancer 'is not yet complete' as he vows to 'keep fighting' against the disease.
The former Chelsea striker and manager was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer back in 2017 before being given the all-clear three years later.
But discussing his condition at an event in London for the launch of a book, he has detailed how his cancerous tumour, or the 'unwanted guest' as he calls it, is still around.
'I feel good, but my journey is not yet complete,' Vialli said, as reported by Football Italia.
'The unwanted guest, as I call it, is still here with me. At this moment, I am in maintenance mode. The tumour is still there. At times it is more noticeable, at others less.'
Vialli joined Roberto Mancini's coaching staff with the Italian national team after getting the all clear and he was a popular touchline figure during Euro 2020, which Italy won.
While opening up on his ongoing cancer battle, Vialli stressed that he is much improved and is determined to stay alongside Mancini for years to come.
He added: 'I will keep fighting, because I want to be here for many more years. I want you to have to put up with me for a long time to come.
'I take that strength from my family, friends and all those who give me such courage.'
