Caicedo completes transfer

Chelsea have completed the transfer of Moises Caicedo to bring one of the longer sagas of the summer to an end. The Blues agreed a fee with Brighton on Sunday that could reach £115million, with the Ecuador international then completing his medical on Monday.

Caicedo joins on an eight-year deal with an option of a further year in place, having turned down Liverpool who had also come to agreement with the Seagulls. The Blues have agreed an initial £100million deal with a further £15million available in add-ons. Club sources have an expectation the fee will reach a similar figure to what was paid for Enzo Fernandez in January, with half of the add-ons proving difficult to achieve.

Chelsea's marquee signing of the summer sees spending surpass £800million since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital completed their takeover of the club in May 2022.

Liverpool have agreed a £60million deal to sign Southampton star Romeo Lavia as they look to get revenge on Chelsea after missing out Moises Caicedo's signature. The Blues finally agreed a deal with Brighton for Caicedo after months of negotiations, as per Fabrizio Romano.

According to Alex Crook, the Reds have now agreed a £60million deal to sign Lavia after missing out on Caicedo. Liverpool have already had two bids for the Belgian midfielder rejected by Southampton after refusing to meet the club's £50million asking price.

Olise agreement 'close'

Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement on personal terms with Crystal Palace star Michael Olise. The Blues' summer transfer spending is set to continue this week after the club agreed a £115million deal to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with Olise and hope to secure a deal worth around £45m for the 21-year-old, according to the Evening Standard. Manchester City remain interested in the Frenchman - but are currently focused on agreeing a deal to sign West Ham star Lucas Paqueta.
