Chelsea transfer news: Todd Boehly looks set for another busy summer window as he aims to put the final touches on his mass squad overhaul

Chelsea look set to be very busy in the summer transfer window once again as Todd Boehly aims to bring more players to Stamford Bridge. Since his completed takeover of the club back in May 2022, Boehly has invested £566million to sign 16 players in just two transfer windows with at least one new signing acquired in every position.

Huge money moves in the summer for Wesley Fofana (£70m) and Marc Cucurella (£62m) were followed by lucrative deals to sign Mykhailo Mudryk (£62m) and Enzo Fernandez (£106m) in January. All four started the weekend victory over Leicester after each enduring hugely differing starts to their careers in Blue.

Fofana and Cucurella have combined in recent weeks to form a new-look back three alongside Kalidou Koulibaly while Enzo Fernandez continues to prove how valuable an addition he has been in midfield. As for Mudryk, a bright start to life in west London was quickly forgotten as he played just 33 minutes in five games prior to the Leicester clash.

Mudryk was recalled to the starting XI in place of Raheem Sterling and secured his first goal contribution since signing, heading the ball into the path of Mateo Kovacic who fired a volley beyond Danny Ward.

After a tumultuous few months, the marquee signings all look to be settling in as Boehly likely prepares to welcome another few additions to the club at the end of the season. Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice are two names who will command a high fee in the summer as their respective futures look set to be away from Dortmund and West Ham.

A number of other European heavyweights are interested in the England duo alongside the Blues, but it seems supporters on social media have made their feelings clear regarding which midfielder they want the club to sign. @NJEmms said: "Romeo Lavia once again showing why he’s perfect for Chelsea, must be the priority." @MrTahaaa said: "If Chelsea are smart they’d get Romeo Lavia & Kone in the summer. Forget Rice" @_Efeomo added: "Chelsea MUST get Romeo Lavia."

Kovacic at 28 and Kante at 30 have both struggled with niggling injuries and may not fit precisely with Boehly's plans regarding young talent. Being just 19, Lavia could be the man to seal a long-term partnership with Fernandez, as his own attributes would suit the Argentine's game perfectly.

@Latif600 said: "Romeo Lavia has to be a priority for Chelsea this summer, 19 years old, performing consistently but still has loads of room to get better and is the profile we need in our team next to Enzo Fernandez." @karim_cfc said: "Romeo Lavia might just be that DM Chelsea have longed for. Special player would look good next to Enzo."

The Belgian midfielder continued his impressive season on a personal note with a dominating performance at Old Trafford against Manchester United. The Saints secured an unlikely point against the Carabao Cup winners with Lavia playing the full game, making eight ball recoveries in the process.
