Chelsea transfer round-up: Tuchel sanctions Rice move, Monaco star targeted

  /  autty

Thomas Tuchel's work with Chelsea in his brief tenure will serve him well going into the summer transfer window.

Chelsea were the big spenders last time round, shelling out £200million on new additions to their playing squad.

And it seems Roman Abramovich is ready for another frivolous few months ahead as he looks to build Tuchel's early success.

Tottenham's Harry Kane is the ideal target to spearhead a title challenge next season, though the Blues face a battle for his signature.

The striker's loyalty to his current employer may mean a switch to Spurs' rivals across London may be a bridge too far, but Tuchel has plenty of other targets on his radar.

Here is the latest Chelsea gossip.

Tuchel 'sanctions' Rice move

Another window, a different manager, but the same target has been identified to harness Chelsea's midfield for the foreseeable future.

West Ham's Declan Rice was the player Frank Lampard really wanted but failed to land.

His loss could be Tuchel's gain as, according to the Telegraph, he has sanctioned a move for the Hammers star this summer.

Man City and Man Utd are both interested too, but the opportunity for another crack at life at Stamford Bridge is believed to be calling Rice, who is keen to line up alongside close friend Mason Mount.

Naturally the Hammers aren't looking to sell their prized asset, particularly if they seal a European spot, but Chelsea could make an offer too good to refuse.

Fabregas tips Blues on midfield star

Should a bid for Rice prove out of Chelsea's reach, they have already lined up a possible alternative.

Both The Telegraph and The Sun claim Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni is under consideration following a tip off from former Blue Cesc Fabregas.

Tchouameni has been earning rave reviews in France and would reportedly set any potential suitor back around £34million - a significant drop on the £80m West Ham value Rice at.

Van Ginkel finally going

He may as well have been a PSV player anyway, but finally it looks as though the Dutch club are going to make things official.

Van Ginkel joined Chelsea in 2013 but has barely played, taking in five loan spells since, three of which have been with PSV.

The 28-year-old is out of contract this summer after Chelsea opted not to take up the option of an extension.

PSV technical director John de Jong told ED (via Chelsea Chronicle ): "I think it’s very logical that we’re talking to him about a contract.

“This also depends on the financial conditions of course.

“We waited until the moment he would be on a free transfer or not. Chelsea had until 15 May to exercise an option and as far as we know that did not happen.
