Chelsea back in for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde
Despite their strong start to 2021-22 and two clean sheets on the spin, Chelsea are still after a center-back before the conclusion of the transfer window and the Blues look set to jump back in for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.
Via the Daily Mail, talks between the club and Kounde have kick-started again in a move that could set the blues back at least £52million (player market value via Transfermarkt), with the club potentially having to trigger the players full £68million release clause according to Goal’s Chelsea chief correspondent Nizaar Kinsella.
Any deal struck could also hinge on the club selling Kurt Zouma; which we cover below.
Kurt Zouma nearing Chelsea exit; personal terms with West Ham not yet agreed
Kurt Zouma could finally be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer after the Blues have not stood in the way of breaking away from the French center-back amidst their interest in Jules Kounde.
And it appears that West Ham could end up being his likely destination, allowing the player to remain in London while joining David Moyes’ high-flying Hammers. Chelsea is happy to sell while West Ham has no issue stumping up the cash, but any deal struck is now said to come down to the player’s wage demands and other details regarding his personal terms with West Ham.
Should the deal go ahead, it goes a long way in helping the club secure Kounde before the window closes.
Blues arrive late to the Saúl Ñíguez party
Chelsea has been linked with late interest in Atlético Madrid’s Spanish international midfielder Saúl Ñíguez, according to FourFourTwo via the Daily Telegraph.
With Thomas Tuchel heavily reliant on key pair N’Golo Kanté and Jorginho, Ñíguez would go a long way in offering another top-level option in the middle of the park in what would undoubtedly be an upgrade over other current options at Stamford Bridge.
Any loan move for the Elche-native would be contingent on outgoings, however. The Blues still need to shift the likes of Tiemoué Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley, and Lewis Baker if the club can go full steam ahead in their bid to secure a move for his services.
