Chelsea have reportedly decided against pursuing Erling Haaland this summer and will instead go after other transfer targets.
The Blues are eager to sign a new centre-forward this summer, with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz both failing to impress in a number nine role.
Stamford Bridge officials had earmarked Haaland as a target earlier in the year, with Roman Abramovich said to be throwing his weight behind the move.
But now, it seems they have decided against making a move, with Borussia Dortmund now set to play in the Champions League next year, reports The Athletic.
Dortmund endured a tough season but managed to finish in the top four, virtually ending any chance of Haaland pushing for a move.
That decision will likely open the door to Manchester United, who are also interested in moving.
The Red Devils tried to sign Haaland in the past, but missed out just before he joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg.
This summer could, however, be their best chance to sign him.
The striker will be in demand next year, when his release clause of £68million will be active.
This year, he'll likely cost upwards of double that figure, but that might be a price worth paying for the 21-year-old who just hit 40 goals in his first full season at Dortmund.
Manchester City have also been linked, as have Barcelona, but neither are likely to make a bid this summer.
City are likely to move for Harry Kane, with the Tottenham forward said to have his heart set on a move to the Etihad. And Barcelona are signing Sergio Aguero on a free transfer, with their financial situation preventing them from any big-money acquisitions this summer.
Real Madrid are a potential rival for Haaland's signature, but Florentino Perez has been open about how much debt the club is in, and it's unlikely they'd be able to match United financially this year.
It seems the time for Ed Woodward to go all out to make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side title contenders is now.
