With his departure from Paris Saint-Germain now imminent, Christophe Galtier’s next destination appears likely to be Napoli, with the two-time Ligue 1 winner at the top of the Serie A champions’ shortlist to replace Luciano Spalletti.
The former Saint-Étienne and Lille coach, though, could also be in line for a return to the England – having previously been Alain Perrin’s assistant at Portsmouth in 2005.
According to RMC Sport this morning, Galtier is among the candidates to replace David Moyes as manager of West Ham, who have been extensively linked with Lille’s Paulo Fonseca.
RMC add that Galtier is joined on the list of Napoli targets by his compatriots Rudi Garcia and Bruno Génésio – as well as former Bordeaux manager Paulo Sousa – in what appears to be a decidedly French-oriented shortlist drawn up by Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The chances of the Rennes manager leaving for Campania, though, are very low, given he has qualified the Bretons for the Europa League after finishing in fourth place. Instead, Galtier – pending the mutual termination of his PSG contract – is in the lead to take over the Azzurri, although the Conference League winners are also ostensibly keeping an eye on him.
