Former Argentina coach Alfio 'Coco' Basile has urged Lionel Messi to re-sign with Barcelona.
Messi won the Copa America final against Brazil on Sunday as a free agent after coming off contract this month from Barca.
Basile, who coached both Messi and Diego Maradona as Argentina coach, revealed: "I told him 'you cannot leave Barça, you cannot leave Barcelona or Catalonia. I ask you, please'.
"I wish him the best and the best is not outside of Barcelona."
He added: "Where is Leo going to be better than at Barça? There you have it all, even the boys' school. Where are you going? To Qatar?
"You never know how long a crack's career will last, because there are guys who go until 40 and others stay at 31, but from what I see Leo has four or five more years left."
