Combined north London derby XI: Lacazette & Auba partner Kane up front

  /  autty

Tottenham visit the Emirates Stadium on Sunday for what will be the first north London derby on new Arsenal manager Unai Emery's watch.

Emery has impressed so far during his short reign and his Gunners side, unbeaten in 18 games in all competitions, are just three points below Spurs in the Premier League table ahead of the game.

The result is tough to call, but which team is stronger on paper? We pick a combined north London derby XI.

Hugo Lloris

Ask for a composite XI again in a few months and Bernd Leno might well push Lloris closer.

But for now, and despite issues on and off the field, the World Cup winner still takes his place between the sticks.

Only Ederson and Allison have conceded fewer goals so far this season.

Hector Bellerin

The Spaniard's form dipped towards the end of Arsene Wenger's reign but he has started to rediscover what made the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City ponder whether to sign him.

On his day Bellerin is the most electric right back in the division and that's why he just pips Kieran Trippier.

Toby Alderweireld

A target for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, Alderweireld has become one of the most consistent central defenders in the country.

Had his ups and downs with Mauricio Pochettino but his partnership with Jan Vertonghen is flourishing again.

Jan Vertonghen

You cannot have Alderweireld without Vertonghen, a move that edges out Arsenal's new signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Vertonghen fitted in seamlessly against Inter Milan – his first start for two months – and is the bedrock of Tottenham's back four.

Ben Davies

The premier left back under Pochettino now, stealing a march on Danny Rose.

Davies is defensively sound – playing in a defence that has conceded only 11 goals so far this season — and chips in going forward too.

Lucas Torreira

It took Unai Emery time to give Torreira regular starts but the central midfielder has quickly become a fans' favourite at the Emirates.

The Uruguay international is bringing Granit Xhaka on as well and has offered Arsenal more tenacity in an area they have lacked it for some time.

Dele Alli

Alli has that daring quality on the ball, a fearlessness to drive Spurs on in tight spaces and for that alone he is a valuable asset.

The timing of his runs are improving, while his pressing of Jorginho in last week's victory over Chelsea did not go unnoticed.

Christian Eriksen

Will want to add more goals this season, with only two – both scored against Inter Milan – so far.

But his quality is unquestioned and the guile Eriksen brings to Tottenham trumps Mesut Ozil's contribution for Arsenal.

Alexandre Lacazette

A really impressive campaign thus far for Lacazette, who should be aiming for more than 15 Premier League goals by the end of May.

His link-up play is aiding Arsenal, with the partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang thriving.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Eighteen goals in 23 Premier League starts since his move from Dortmund last January and that instinct is exactly what Arsenal had been crying out for.

Aubameyang has taken to London life and is bringing the best out of those around him too.

Harry Kane

You cannot have an Arsenal-Tottenham XI without Kane, whose 11 goals already have made a mockery out of early-season fears over his fitness.

It's five in the last six games – including that crucial late winner against PSV Eindhoven – and Kane simply has to be in there.
