Cristiano Ronaldo could be on the move this summer - and it is claimed Manchester United are one of the clubs in the frame.

Reports from Italy has suggested Ronaldo has told agent Jorge Mendes to find him a new club this summer having grown unhappy at Juventus.

Various clubs have been linked with moves but there is a shortage of clubs capable of funding a move for the Portuguese superstar.

According to Marca, however, Manchester United have ‘appeared’ as a solution and possible destination for Ronaldo as he edges closer to a move away from Italy.

It is claimed that United have not yet closed the door on the possibility, whilst their strong relationship with Jorge Mendes could help make a deal happen.

Ronaldo has come under fire in the wake of Juventus’ Champions League exit, but chief executive Andrea Agneli recently defended his big-money signing from Real Madrid a few years ago.

“Wrong to take Ronaldo? Never,” he told Corriere dello Sport and La Repubblica.

“I would do it again tomorrow. And Pirlo too. Stability allows us to follow the path of growth by investing in young players and coaches even at their first experience.

“We brought Cristiano to Italy and his presence alone has guaranteed the other clubs €4 million at the box office.

“We wish to continue importing other champions with the benefits for all levels of football, from the youngsters to the amateurs.”

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meanwhile, recently admitted he would find the chance to work with Ronaldo too good to turn down.

Asked which United legends he would want in his squad in a Q&A on the United website, Solskjaer replied: “There’s a few players I’ve played with that I’d love to have in my team, of course.

“I’d love the player Roy Keane, I’m not sure if I could manage him though. I’d sign him every day of the week, Roy was so influential but then again, I played with Cristiano [Ronaldo] and he’s been the best player in the world alongside Messi for the past 10-15 years now, so Cristiano.

“You’d take him in your team, for sure.”
