Match Events

23' WHAT A CHANCE missed by Salah!

An absolutely delightful bit of play from Keita to break free in his own half and loft a cheeky ball over the top for Salah, who balloons his attempted lob well over the bar. That was out of character.

25' CROSSBAR! Townsend almost scores

So unlucky for Townsend. The winger cuts onto his favoured left and crashes a dipping, curling effort against the woodwork from way out. Alisson was beaten.

45' Penalty Goal! Crystal Palace 0-1 Liverpool (Milner)

Liverpool's stand-in skipper makes no mistake as Milner strokes the spot-kick into the bottom right corner, sending Hennessey the wrong way. Klopp's men lead 1-0 on the edge of half-time.

54' Great save from Alisson!

Flying save from Alisson! The Brazil goalkeeper hurls himself to his left to turn a fine Milivojevic free-kick around the near post.

75' Red Card! Aaron Wan-Bissaka sent off

Wan-Bissaka is off! It's a disappointing end to an encouraging performance for the 20-year-old. He left the referee with no choice, stretching to cut down Salah with the Egypt international clean through for a one-on-one.

93' GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-2 Liverpool (S. Mané)

That will do it for Liverpool. After seeing off both a free-kick and the ensuing corner, they break at speed through Salah and Mane. The latter races through on goal, holds off Van Aanholt and rounds Hennessey to sew up all three points.

Match Report

Goals in injury time of either half from James Milner and Sadio Mane gave the Reds a valuable victory in an encounter that Crystal Palace dominated large parts of.

Mohamed Salah was, unsurprisingly, Liverpool's biggest threat in the first half, and a poorly timed lunge from Mamadou Sakho saw a penalty awarded by Michael Oliver.

Crystal Palace pushed for an equaliser in the second half with Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke spurning a number of half chances, although Alisson Becker looked impressively assured in goal.

After rattling the crossbar with a long-range shot in the first half, Andros Townsend struggled to find an end product in the second half with Andrew Robertson enjoying another excellent match.

Roy Hodgson's side found their resolve broken with 20 minutes to play when the impressive Aaron Wan-Bissaka was shown a straight red card for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity when he brought down a goal-bound Salah.

A similar counter-attack ended the contest in injury time when Mane rounded the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the empty net, despite the best efforts of Patrick van Aanholt.
