Gabriel Jesus and David Silva were on target as Manchester City issued a fine response to their Wolves setback with a convincing 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
A limp 2-0 home defeat before the international break left City eight points adrift of unbeaten Premier League leaders Liverpool, a gap cut to five – at least until Sunday – at Selhurst Park.
City dominated the first half but it took until the 39th minute for Jesus' diving header to break the deadlock, with Silva finishing Raheem Sterling's exquisite assist just 93 seconds later.

Gundogan cuts back inside and curls his effort towards the bottom right corner from outside the box. Hennessey is quickly across his line and gets a foot to it to turn the shot away.

It's a great cross from Bernardo Silva and Jesus makes a diving header to get on the end of it. He reaches it ahead of Ward and his effort bounces off the far post before crossing the goal line.

It looked too easy for City to get in behind and David Silva was unmarked as he ran past Tomkins to get on the end of Sterling's pass and volley his shot between Hennessey's legs and into the back of the net.

David Silva slips the ball through to Sterling and he cuts inside to wrong-foot his defender before driving his shot low towards the near post. Hennessey is scrambling to get across his line, but the effort is just wide.
61' De Bruyne goes down in the box but ref says no penalty!
There's a big shout for a penalty from the away fans after De Bruyne was clumsily brought to ground in the box by Zaha. The referee doesn't give anything but then gets a word in his ear that VAR are checking it.

The patient build-up pays off as Jesus cuts back inside and curls an effort towards goal from the middle of the box. Hennessey dives across his line and gets a hand to it to push it away.
80' CLOSE! De Bruyne hits the post
Gundogan puts a good cross in and De Bruyne is waiting in the six-yard box to get on the end of it. It's a good header from the midfielder and Hennessey is beaten, but it bounces back off the woodwork.
